Day 10 – January 3: Today was a drive day; from Fox Glacier to Queenstown. 5-6 hours! We made sure not to rush. Slept in, got breakfast and made sure to stop many times along the way. I won’t over describe this part as the pictures will do it best, but during this drive, we went from beach and dolphins, glacial rivers and mountains, rainforest, valleys, wine country, and a busy-ass town in just 120 miles. Totally insane beauty that I doubt our pictures will do justice.
When we arrived in Queenstown, we hit traffic and crowds like none other. All the things I said before about the “Moab” of NZ and “Adventure towns” had nothings on this place. If there was something to jump off of, there was a service for that. The massive lake that this town is built on has all manner of watercraft and ways to enjoy it. Every single storefront was another opportunity to drive your adrenaline through the roof. Which is exactly what we had planned for tomorrow.
